Skjutsgruppen: Carpooling Calculator
In collaboration with Skjutsgruppen, Digidem Lab developed Samåkningskalkylatorn, a tool that calculates cost savings and reduced carbon emissions through carpooling.
Digidem Lab, together with Skjutsgruppen, has co-developed Samåkningskalkylatorn (carpooling calculator) that calculates and shows users how carpooling can reduce costs, emissions, and the number of cars in society.
About Skjutsgruppen
Skjutsgruppen is a non-profit organization and carpooling movement working to make transportation more sustainable, social, and resource-efficient by enabling shared travel. Through digital platforms and local initiatives, Skjutsgruppen connects people who want to share rides, reduce climate impact, and use existing transport resources more efficiently.

Samåkningskalkylatorn (Carpooling calculator)
Samåkningskalkylatorn (Carpooling calculator) is a platform and an open, educational tool that helps users explore the potential of shared mobility for workplaces, organizations, events, and everyday commuting. The calculator makes it possible to visualize how small changes in travel habits can create significant societal benefits through reduced carbon emissions, lower travel costs, and more efficient use of existing resources. The tool is based on the principle of carpooling as a collective and non-profit practice where people share journeys and travel costs together.
Samåkningskalkylatorn and Samåkningsporten
During 2026, Skjutsgruppen launched Samåkningsporten, an initiative aimed at making carpooling easier across the Gävleborg region. Through Samåkningsporten, residents and organizations gain access to Skjutsgruppen’s digital carpooling platform, where users can offer or request seats in vehicles, organize commuting, and share rides. Integrated into Samåkningsporten is Samåkningskalkylatorn (carpooling calculator), enabling people in Gävleborg to calculate how much money they save and how much carbon dioxide emissions they reduce by carpooling.
Digidem Labs role
Digidem Lab developed Samåkningskalkylatorn in close collaboration with Skjutsgruppen. The work is part of Digidem Lab’s broader mission to develop digital tools and methods that strengthen participation, collaboration, and sustainable societal solutions. Through the partnership with Skjutsgruppen, democratic innovation is combined with practical tools for climate transition and shared mobility.
