Spring semester course in Community Organising has started

Digidem Lab’s YH course in Community Organising has now started again – a professional development programme tailored for those with experience and a passion for creating positive social change.

The highly appreciated YH course in Community Organising is back and runs throughout the spring semester. During the semester, participants deepen their understanding of the framework, its theories, and concepts, as well as how these methods can strengthen member-led organizations. The course develops skills and competencies in leading and advancing local change processes for a sustainable transition and for addressing complex societal challenges.

The programme also includes training in sector-specific methods for sustainable organising and long-term strategic work. Participants gain the skills and competencies needed to build strong, sustainable organizations that foster long-term engagement and enable practical strategic change. They are also introduced to a wide range of current examples of organising in response to complex societal challenges. The overall aim is to equip participants with the ability to develop strategic change plans and to strengthen their capacity for more inclusive organizational work.

The course provides 30 YH credits and is designed to be combined with work. Participants work on cases from their own organizations, addressing challenges such as member-led organizing, developing local leaders, mapping power, building sustainable structures, and working strategically for long-term impact. The course is primarily conducted online, combining joint digital sessions with independent study. Three in-person gatherings (a total of six full days) take place in Gothenburg.

The Community Organising course is organized by Digidem Lab and Nätverkstan in collaboration with international partners in the field. The programme is funded by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education and the Västra Götaland Region.

The course has been developed in collaboration with Save the Children, Svenska Kyrkan Göteborgs Stift, Folkets Hus och Parker, Frihamnsdagarna, Navet in Bergsjön, Saqmi, PAGE 28, Positiva Gruppen Göteborg, and Göthenburgo. It is based on the challenges these organizations face in their daily work, as well as their identified needs for collaboration and knowledge development.
